Handmade Tile: HOW TO ORDER TILES

For larger design projects such as a kitchen backsplash, a shower, tub surround, or bathroom backsplash, the first step is contacting us for a free quote. Drop us a line at info@linguateratile.com, or call 250.335.3149 and we'll put one together for you, no obligation. We offer free design service, and would love to help you with your backsplash design. We are a small studio with hands-on involvement in every aspect of design and production. This allows us to provide exceptional and personal service, and we enjoy working closely with our clients on their tile projects. You do not need to be local to work closely with us on your installation - we specialize in long-distance custom design work - please see client testimonials in the sidebar. Bronwyn, our founder and designer, brings years of experience in interior design, exceptional colour sense, and an intimate knowledge of all our designs and glazes to her work helping clients design their installations. Bob has decades of professional experience in the building trades, and can navigate with ease the most complex, custom installation, provide installation diagrams, liaison with tile setters, and even create custom pieces to make your tile installation flow seamlessly within your space.

Your Deadline: Our usual turn around time for an average sized order is eight weeks (40 working days.) We encourage you to plan ahead! Depending on our production schedule, a surcharge may apply to orders with a deadline of less than 30 working days. Because of the nature of the ceramic process, and the labour intensive nature of our work, it is not possible to provide an order in less than five weeks (25 working days.)

Order Size: Small orders are just as important to us as large ones. Whether you need 5 square feet for a kitchen back splash, or 50 square feet for a walk in shower, we value your order and devote ourselves to good design and quality. In general, large orders will take longer to fill than small ones, but deadline depends on a number of factors including the type of tile and glaze.

Custom Elements: Options for customization are endless. Do you have a design you want reproduced as a tile? Are you envisioning a certain colour that's not part of our glaze collection? Do you have a tricky space for which you need a special shape? We've created custom designs ranging from a simple monogrammed floor tile to an entire free standing custom designed fountain. Share your tile visions, and we can let you know how we can make it happen.

Shipping Costs: We are happy to provide a shipping quote along with your job quote. We're confident you'll be pleasantly surprised at the affordability of shipping. There are no cross-border duties on ceramic tile, and no taxes if you are purchasing from outside of Canada. We've got our packing techniques down to a science, and virtually never experience breakage - still, we guarantee replacement of any product damaged in shipping.

Terra Home Architectural Ceramics

All of our tiles are designed and created here, in the Terra Home studio. Each piece is made by hand, with care and love invested in each step of our labour-intensive, traditional process. Our tiles are grouped in collections, with different themes, to complement different design schemes:

Kyoto
Inspired by the natural serenity of the Japanese garden, these tiles, in colours of stone and lichen, feature koi fish, plum blossoms, bamboo, pine, and Buddhist imagery. Shop the Kyoto Collection Here.

Firenze

Hanabi

Italian Sketchbook
A more whimsical take on the Italian theme, these wax-resist decorated tiles feature charming line drawings which capture the essence of the Tuscan kitchen and countryside.

Hacienda

Vancouver Island
Inspired by the natural beauty of the Northwest Coast that surrounds us every day at Terra Home, the relief images on these hand pressed tiles are cast from actual natural objects gathered from forests and beaches.

In addition, we produce a full line of hand pressed field (plain) tiles in various shapes and sizes, including 4” square, 4” hex, and 3” x 5” traditional subway, as well as border, corner, and listello tile for most applications.
