upcoming hand made tile workshop

The Denman Island Arts Centre has organized a workshop to take place in our studio, starting on April 18th. I'll be teaching a group of students how to create their own set of hand pressed relief decorated tiles. We'll be making tiles like the one shown above (Ume from our Kyoto Collection) The three day event also includes a talk at the Arts Centre, in which I'll present a visual history of art tiles. I'm really looking forward to this fun and challenging experience. More details to follow! FMI or to register, visit the Arts Centre here.

celebrating colour

This week's designer's pick is the Blossom Bowl. I love these fabulous flower colours, they are so happy! This time of year I look out of my studio window and see a lot of brown and gray - plus a little bit of muddy white. Working with these warm, yummy fruit-and-flower colours really helps to lift the winter gray a little bit, and serving my meals on these every night brings a bit of spring to my winter table. The top bowl is a new colourway, Pansy. below are old favourites Mango and Lime. To bring some Blossomware to your table, click here.
